Crime and Place™ just might save your life – or help you avoid becoming the victim of a violent crime. Just look at these features: - The Crime Compass™ - Quickly see your surroundings as you move using a unique color-coded view that updates dynamically. Whether you’re walking or driving, the Crime Compass shows you short- and long-range crime hotspots, allowing you to steer clear of dangerous areas! The radar sweep view displays information in all directions for up to one mile. All map areas are clearly marked with “red, yellow or green” indicators showing how safe they are. - The Crime Map Overlay – Using the fully interactive heat map, you can search for points of interest or a specific address for crime data. This allows you to check out gas stations, restaurants and rest stops before you go there. Or, you can drop a pin on the map to verify that your next stop won’t be in an unexpected high crime area. - Customizable – You can customize the crime data displayed to suit your needs. Simply change the settings to display different types of crime by categories and weighting. For example, you can customize your settings to display personal or property crime – or set the app to show “auto thefts” or other specific types of crimes in your area. - Crime Notification – It’s easy to set up notifications so that you are alerted when you enter a high crime area. Notifications require background GPS use. - Reliable and Accurate Data – Crime and Place focuses on presenting well established, long term national and local crime trends in the U.S. This provides a more accurate picture of crime levels than other types of reporting. With Crime and Place, you won’t have to decipher confusing “incidence” maps that show dots or confusing icons that can be hard to read. Crime and Place is Great for: - Taking local trips - Going to new venues - Checking out the safety of your daily commute, your own neighborhood or other areas you frequent - Knowing how safe your local parks and attractions really are – before you go! - Taking Road Trips - Determining how safe the area is around your work, shopping and parking areas National Press Coverage The Wall Street Journal reported, “Navigating the app feels like running through a videogame: A warning pops up when you’re entering a ‘high crime area’ then directs you back to safe environs.” The Herald Sun wrote, ”The app uses maps and a “’Crime Compass’ that tells users not only how safe they are, but essentially how to escape high-crime areas.” Download Crime and Place Today! This won’t go well for you

This developer has raised the subscription fee for the app by 1000%. Yes that’s right, 1000%. ONE........THOUSAND..........PERCENT......... Was $5 annually, now it’s $50. That wasn’t the deal when I paid $10 for just the app alone. There are other ways to get this data, and the accuracy of the data in the app is questionable to begin with. To be fair the developer is very good about addressing any concerns within the app and the product is very well laid out, but even still it feels like I have been stolen from by this guy which is ironic for a crime app.

Doesnt work

I typed that in the zipcode if my town (11951) and it said the crime was zero. I onow for a fact that crime isn’t zero since 20 cars got stolen in the past 2 months

Great Potential But Notifications Are Broken

I like the idea, and the app seems to have a nice layout. The developer also responds to me (far better than the ones who don’t). But some things can improve: giving notifications even if not open (after all the widget seems to work without the app open), telling where the area was that caused the notification, and prominent notifications. I have iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 14 and iPad Pro with iPad OS 14, and the location services set to always allow, and the notifications allowed with a preference for the prominent notification. However, the app must be open for it to give me any notifications. Also, iPhones have the option for automatic do-not-disturb-while-driving and I have that enabled; and this is why I have prominent notifications set for this app, but they seem less prominent than I desire prominent notifications to be. Lastly, the app notification only mentions I entered a high crime area, but in case it notified while I was driving or otherwise not looking I won’t know what that area was; so I wish it gave a city and neighborhood or a thumbnail screen-capture of the map with the notice, so that I get the notice and know where it is/was that was risky.

Changed for this.

Charged for this. Not sure how it happened. Beware.

Invaluable when traveling/house hunting

Don’t leave home without it. One of only 2 apps I to which I subscribe. Before I decide to look at a property this is the first stop I make. Traveling with a young family I can easily avoid questionable areas. Would like to see this overlaid on my gps.

Gives us that feeling of safety. Alert works perfectly.

It helps when traveling when trying to decide whether or not I should take an exit for gas. Before this app, it used to be a crapshoot whether it was safe or not. Also was extremely helpful in choosing the location of our new home. We found a beautiful place in a low crime area with zero loud car stereo bass noise. Needless to say we are very happy with this app! Thank you!

This is a great idea. I love the idea of getting an alert on my phone for when I wonder into a high crime area. I even paid for parents to have it for a year. Unfortunately, neither of us has ever received an alert. It seems like the app has to be running and in the foreground to revive them. I have the 11 Pro Max and my parents have older 7s. It is a great idea, though.

Cancelling subscription. Can’t believe I paid $15.00 only to have to make ANOTHER purchase in the app. What a rip-off! I was expecting to see specific crime locations and type of crime.
