player can repeat AND play/repeat subsections, fantastic. the bad: no finger numbering. small notes on botton of screen. screen used up by a useless video of a person playing. if you want me to copy that why not give us finger numbers on the notes. can anyone here focus on 2 screen sections at once? every videogame player knows you cannot. showing the video is just lazy.
Their catalog has very poor selection...no diversity. You're limited from 1-3 songs of Elton John, Billy Joel, Bowie... I couldn't find anything under a famous Puerto Rican Jew pianist.. I'm disappointed... I was happy at first but then realized paying $120 for the year would be dumb if they don't have what I would like to learn how to play.
It is not usable when relying on the mic for input. There is a 50:50 chance nothing is picked up. Either go midi or skip this app.
When I am playing I have to hit an obviously correct key multiple times. There really should be an option to play without the microphone because it doesn’t work very well at all.
This app has been a life-saver for my sheet-music reading skills. Before, I had used SimplyPiano to play songs, but it was no good because it didn’t have any of the songs I liked, but Flowkey is just wow. You guys have done an amazing job with this app, and I hope that kids of this generation like me will step up to the challenge of piano and make music.
Horrendous audio recognition makes this frustrating would not suggest to anyone
I am truly blown away by how good this app is. I am a beginner who just decided to learn piano. I have tried YouTube and books but this is far superior. The courses are very well designed to build skill and confidence gradually. The note detection is near perfect. Even the UI is excellent! I am using and iPhone which is very useable. I think an iPad would be even better and I may buy one just for this app. My two minor criticisms are: I wish that when choosing to “repeat” a song it didn’t ask me to listen to it again. I rarely need to listen again so having to hit “skip” is an extra step. I also wish it had a “hard mode” where it didn’t let me proceed until a really had a piece right in both tempo and notes. As it is it sometimes thinks to highly of me and wants to continue before I really have it down.
I’d say I’m okayish at piano. I have all the letters of the keys on the piano and I can go on YouTube and play songs that just show the letters of the keys and I figure it out by adjusting the speed of the video to what works best. I don’t know how to actually play though, I don’t know where to put my fingers and how to move them, I just tap the key wherever necessary. That’s when I downloaded this app to try to help. But it’s just really frustrating and I you can’t slow the video down and it doesn’t give you a heads up on what note to play unless you know sheet music. I find that YouTube videos are a lot more useful, but that’s just my take on it. Use whatever medium that works for you
Its a scam dont even try it
I tried out the flowkey free trial where it said it would charge me $10 a month if I didn’t cancel my trial. I just got hit with a $120 charge. They decided to bill me for a whole year. Very bold of an app that has an incredibly small selection of songs. I almost learned every song I wanted in 7 days. I don’t know what I’ll do with a year of this garbage service. Anyway, don’t trust them when they tell you $10 a month cause they will charge you for the year like the cash and grab scum that they are.
